Not to long ago, a Lady asked me to make a Portrait of her grandchild. After I made her an offer, she wrote me, that she allready has a portrait doll of her grandchild, made from an artist and that she is not satisfied at all with it.

My challenge was not to make a exacly copie of the child, I wanted it to look younger, like she´s looked like as a Baby.

After looking at the templet and the pics from the artist portrait, I was sure, that I could sculpt her much better.

The basics and the first trait were done, I started working on the acuteness of the mimic. This is the most importend phase to make the face look just like on the pics, that the likeness apears.

The both ears were not to see on the pic so I deside to imporovise.

The sculpted hand and feet for Demi are done now, I did not had an templet for it.

For a better controll of the fine mimic on the face, I ´m taking lot of pics from each side, to see the little mistakes.

I´m comparing the original pic with the pic of the portrait to see if everything is right and to controll the proportions. The portrait was photographed couple times durig the sculping step-by-step and to controll the likeness and the pics were send to the orderer to proof it.

On the end I put the portrait pic on top of the origianl to have a good comparison and to send it to the orderer, becouse she is the one, who have to deside if I did a good work on the portrait and if the likeness is there or if I should still change something. After the orderer is satisfied with the end result, I bake the doll and paint her.

Demi is compleatly done with body, arms and feet and dressed to see Grandma.
